National Entrance Screening Test (NEST) for Admission to Integrated MSc Programme

The National Entrance Screening Test (NEST) is an online/computer-based test that is compulsory for admission to the five-year Integrated MSc programme in Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Physics. This programme is offered at the National Institute of Science Education and Research (NISER), Bhubaneswar, and the University of Mumbai – Department of Atomic Energy Centre for Excellence in Basic Sciences (UM–DAE CEBS), Mumbai.

Eligibility Criteria:

To be eligible for admission to the Integrated MSc programme, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  1. Secures a position in the NEST merit list
  2. Passed the XII standard board examination in the science stream in the years 2021 or 2022 or has appeared in 2023 from any recognised Higher Secondary Education Board in India.
  3. Secures at least 60% in aggregate in the XII standard board examination. For SC/ST/Divyangjan candidates the requirement is 55%.
  4. Born on or after August 01, 2003. For SC/ST/Divyangjan students the limit is relaxed by five years.

NEST 2023 Examination:

The NEST 2022 examination will be held on June 24, 2023, at multiple centres (major towns or cities) all over India. There will be two sessions: 9:00 AM – 12:30 PM (first session) and 2:30 PM – 6:00 PM (second session). Candidates will be assigned to one of the two sessions.

Application Process:

  • To apply for NEST 2023, candidates must fill out the online application form through the official website www.nestexam.in.

  • The application process starts on February 27, 2023, and closes on May 17, 2023 (midnight).
