National Archives of India Short-Term Certificate Courses

The National Archives of India (NAI) has announced the commencement of applications for various short-term certificate courses. These courses aim to equip individuals with essential skills and knowledge in archival studies, records management, reprography, and preservation of historical documents. Interested candidates can apply for the courses offered by the NAI School of Archival Studies, which cater to different disciplines and durations.

Courses Offered:

I. Archives Management:

  • Duration: 6 weeks (February - March)
  • Eligibility: Graduate from any recognized university (below 30 years for private candidates, no age limit for sponsored candidates)
  • Course Fee: Rs. 300/- for Indian trainees, $300.00 for foreign trainees

II. Records Management:

  • Duration: 4 weeks (May and September)
  • Eligibility: Graduate from any recognized university (below 30 years for private candidates, no age limit for sponsored candidates)
  • Course Fee: Rs. 200/- for Indian trainees, $200.00 for foreign trainees

III. Reprography:

  • Duration: 6 weeks (April - May and September - October)
  • Eligibility: Second class graduate, preferably in Science (below 30 years for private candidates, no age limit for sponsored candidates)
  • Course Fee: Rs. 300/- for Indian trainees, $300.00 for foreign trainees

IV. Care and Conservation of Books, Manuscripts, and Archives:

  • Duration: 8 weeks (July - August and November - December)
  • Eligibility: Second class graduate, preferably in Science (below 30 years for private candidates, no age limit for sponsored candidates)
  • Course Fee: Rs. 300/- for Indian trainees, $300.00 for foreign trainees

V. Servicing and Repair of Records:

  • Duration: 6 weeks (May - June and September - October)
  • Eligibility: High School, Knowledge of English/Hindi (below 50 years of age)
  • Course Fee: Rs. 300/- for Indian trainees, $300.00 for foreign trainees

Selection Procedure:

  • Selection is based on merit (marks basis) as per the eligibility requirements mentioned for each course.

Hostel Facilities:

  • There is no hostel facility available with the School of Archival Studies. Trainees are required to arrange for their own board and lodging.
  • Pay and allowances of government-sponsored candidates are to be borne by their respective departments.
