Research in Law and Inter-Disciplinary areas at Gujarat National Law University

The Gujarat National Law University (GNLU) has invited applications from eligible candidates for the research and interdisciplinary areas conducted by the university. The University is a public law school and a National Law University established under the Gujarat National Law University Act, 2003 in the state of Gujarat. The university is located in Gandhinagar, which is the capital of Gujarat and is located 23 kilometres north of the city of Ahmedabad. The University is recognized by the  Bar Council of India (BCI)  and the University Grants Commission (UGC) (2f & 12B). 

Courses  

• Full-time PhD Degree Programme in Law
• Full time/Part-time Interdisciplinary Research with Law in different disciplines- Management/Allied Areas (which includes Commerce/Business Studies/ Management/ Public Policy and other associated subjects); Social Work; Sociology/Allied Areas; Political Science; Economics/Allied Areas (which includes Commerce/Business Studies/ Management/ Public Policy and other associated subjects); Physics/Allied Areas; Botany/Allied Areas.

Eligibility

• Applicants should have a Master’s degree or an equivalent professional degree with at least 55% marks in aggregate (50% for SC/ST/OBC/DA and other categories of candidates and for those who had obtained their Master's degree prior to the 19th September 1991)
•  or its equivalent grade or an equivalent degree. Those with M.Phil. The degree is also eligible for admission to the PhD programme.

Selection process

• Admission Test (UGC NET/JRF and MPhil Passed Candidates shall be exempted) to be held on 11.6.2022. The duration of the admission test will be 2 hours. It will have 2 papers with a total of 100 Multiple Choice Questions- Paper I: Research Methodology & English (50 Questions) and Paper-II: Subject Awareness- Domain Knowledge (50 Questions).
• Presentation of the proposed research before the Departmental Research Committee (DRC) to be held in the first week of July 2022 for those qualifying for the entrance test with a 50% score. The presentation has to be done in 15 minutes.

• Applications can be filled online latest by June 5, 2022. Application fee of Rs. 4,000/- can be paid online.
• The hard copy of the filled-in admission form along with all the relevant certificates should reach ‘The Registrar, Gujarat National Law University, Knowledge Corridor, Koba, Koba (Sub P. O.), Gandhinagar, Gujarat – 382426’ by post latest by Wednesday, 08 June 2022 in a cover marked as ‘Application for Admission to the PhD Programme’.
