Are you an international student looking for a scholarship to study in Japan? The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) is offering a scholarship for a wide range of subjects, including:

  • Engineering & Architecture, Agriculture and Forestry
  • Medicine and Dentistry

Qualifications

To qualify for this scholarship, you must meet the following qualifications:

Nationality: Applicants must have the nationality of a country that has diplomatic relations with Japan.

Age: Applicants, in principle, must be born on or after April 2, 1999.

Education: Applicants who have completed 12 years of schooling in countries other than Japan.

Selection Process

The selection process consists of two screenings. The first screening will be conducted by the Japanese diplomatic missions, and it includes the examination of submitted application documents, written academic examinations, and interviews. If you pass the first screening, you'll be recommended to MEXT for the second screening. MEXT will select the scholarship grantees from the recommended applicants.

Benefits

Selected students will be required to attend a one-year Japanese preparatory course before being admitted to a Japanese university. Once admitted, the scholarship will cover all tuition fees, and you'll receive a monthly allowance of 117,000 yen.
