Admission for Integrated MS-PhD in Biotechnology At National Institute of Biomedical Genomics

 

Applications are invited for admission to the Integrated MS-PhD in Biotechnology with specialization in Biomedical Genomics for the August 2022 session at the National Institute of Biomedical Genomics, Kalyani, West Bengal.

National Institute of Biomedical Genomics (NIBMG) is a national-level research institute for genomic medicine in India, established as an autonomous institution under the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India. This is the first institution in India explicitly devoted to research, training, translation, service, and capacity-building in biomedical genomics situated in Kalyani, West Bengal, India, near Kolkata

Course 

  • Integrated MS-PhD in Biotechnology with specialization in Biomedical Genomics (August 2022 session)
  • The broad areas of research pursued at NIBMG are: 
  1.  Biomedical Genomics and the functional implications in the context of:
  2.  Cancer 
  3.  Infectious disease 
  4.  Chronic disease
  5.  Computational Biology and Statistical Genomics 

Common Eligibility

  • Indian nationals with a minimum of 55 % aggregate marks (or an equivalent grade point average) in bachelor’s degree in any branch of Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Mathematics, or statistics are eligible to apply.
  • Candidates need to have Biology and mathematics at a 10+2 level. 
  • Candidates should have qualified for any of the following entrance exams

(i) Joint Graduate Entrance Examination for Biology and Interdisciplinary Life Sciences (JGEEBILS conducted by NCBS/TIFR): Exam held in December 2021

(ii) Joint Admission Test for M.Sc. JAM-2022 in Biotechnology (BT), Mathematical Statistics (MS), or Chemistry (CY)

 

Selection 

  • The Selection of Integrated MS-PhD in Biotechnology with specialization courses is based on scores in JGEEBILS (December 2021) or JAM 2022 (BT, MS, and CY) that are higher than the cut-offs determined by NIBMG.
  •  The shortlisted candidate will be called for an interview for the final selection
